Majestic white nights period is known as the most attractive time for visiting St. Petersburg. This period, when the sun does not descend below the horizon so the nights are never completely dark, lasts for about a month from the end of May till the beginning of July. During White Nights, many bridges on the Neva River raise between 1.30 a.m. and 5 a.m. to let big ships pass, and many people come to see this special show. Expect also to see a lot of weddings and newlywed couples at this time along the river. Night view of the drawn and illuminated Palace Bridge is one of the most popular photo spots.
