Natalia (English)

I think I chose to become a guide because of two things: I love this city and I love to communicate with people.  I'm an out-going person, always ready to share what I know with the city visitors. And there's so much really interesting and unique about this city! I realized how much I love it after two years I had to spend in Europe. And that's when I started reading about it and learning all those interesting facts.( I am one of those who still read books though I spend much time with my laptop, too.) Later this hobby grew into a permanent job, but it didn't stop to be my hobby. I also like to travel and learn. Learn about different cultures and exchange views. Learn through comparison. And my tourists often teach me something new, telling about the places they are from. I have a family and I'm also trying to bring my little son up, which is a very difficult but honorary task. And I'm proud of it, too.

Tatiana (English)

I am a certified Tour Guide and have been working for two years. Although I’m rather young I know enough to show the city and its suburbs with interesting and amazing stories, which you cannot read in the books for travelers.
I love the social side of being a tour guide, getting to meet new people is one of the best parts of the job and I’m still in contact with some customers I met over these two years.
I love all the destinations where I bring my customers to but Peterhof and the city tours would be my favourite. I love to travel when I get the chance.

Maria (English, Spanish)

Once, when I was a child I went to an excursion to St.Isaak’s Cathedral and I had a copybook to do the notes with me. There was a woman (I think she was a teacher because she had a big group of children with her)… This woman saw my copybook and asked: “Why do you need this copybook?” “For notes”, I answered. Then she said “It’s very good because we live in the most beautiful city in the world”. Since that moment I understood that I would like to be a guide because I want to show all this beauty to people. I always loved foreign languages. This is how I chose my profession. To be a guide for me is not only to tell the history of my city. It’s to transmit my love to Saint Petersburg to other people!

Nikita (English, Chinese)

Dear Friends,
I am Dr. Nikita Vul and I will be more than happy to be your guide in St.Petersburg.
On June 2000 I have obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Faculty of Oriental and African Studies, St. Petersburg State University and on June 2003 a Master’s degree from the same University. Both degrees were summa cum laude. In 2007 I also got a Ph.D. degree in History from St.Petersburg State University. In 2009-2011 I worked as a postdoctoral fellow at History Department of Peking University where I studied Sino-Russian (Soviet) relations. In 2010 I also taught one-semester course on Russian history (19 – 20 cc.) at History Department of Peking University. The work at Peking University gave me a perfect chance to develop and improve my ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of people. Now I am teaching Chinese History at the Faculty of Oriental and African Studies, St. Petersburg State University and work as a guide during my spare time.
