Overview
The Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts is one of the largest museums of European art in Russia. It is located in the city centre, opposite the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. The museum was opened to public in 1912 as The Alexander III Museum of Fine Arts. In 1932 it was renamed the State Museum of Fine Arts and in 1934 the name of the famous Russian poet Alexander Pushkin was added to its title. The museum houses the collections of European art dated from Antiquity to XX century.
