Day 1 - St Petersburg

Arrival transfer to the hotel

Panoramic city tour. Saint-Petersburg is known as one of the most beautiful city in the world. During the tour you’ll make several photo stops, enjoy the views of the city and its wonderful landmarks like Palace Square, the Winter Palace,  St. Isaac’s Cathedral and Square, Spilt  on the Blood Cathedral,  Peter and Paul Fortress and many others. You’ll see famous bridges and wide Neva river which gave St. Petersburg its name of Northern Venice. Besides that you’ll find out a lot of amazing facts about the city history and culture.

Visit to the Peter and Paul Fortress and Cathedral. Established by Peter the Great in 1703 on small Hare Island, the Peter and Paul Fortress is one of the most popular touristic sights in the city. Built in order to protect the projected capital of Russian empire from a Swedish counterattack, the fort never fulfilled this purpose.  The fort served as a base for the city garrison, as a prison for high ranking or political prisoners. The Peter and Paul’s Cathedral is the highest building in the historical centre of St. Petersburg. There’s a burial of the Russian Emperors.

 

Day 2 - St. Petersburg

Tour to the Hermitage museum and Winter Palace. The Hermitage and Winter Palace is known as one of the largest museums in the whole world. Founded in 1764 by Catherine the Great, it’s also one of the oldest museums.  It was open to the public in 1852. There are about three million works of art and artifacts of the world culture in the museum collection. You’ll visit famous collection of Western European art which presents the art from the Middle Ages, and is regarded as one of the finest in the world and occupies 120 rooms in the museum buildings. The collection includes many works by outstanding masters from Italy, Spain, Holland, Flanders, France, England, Germany.

Rivers and canals tours
Famous for its rivers and canals, St. Petersburg was built in the delta of the River Neva and is spread out over numerous islands. That is why it is known as the "City of 101 Islands" or the "Nothern Venice". Over the centuries numerous bridges were built to connect these islands across the Neva river and many canals like Moika, Fontanka, Kanal Griboyedov canal.

Day 3 - St. Petersburg

Tour to Peterhof Grand Palace and Fountain Park
Peterhof is also called as the "Russian Versailles"s. Several palaces and gardens of Peterhof complex located 30 km south-west of Saint Petersburg. In 1714, Peter began to construct the Monplaisir ("my pleasure") Small Palace based on his own sketches of the palace that he wanted close to the shoreline of the Gulf of Finland. Monplaisir became Peter's I favourite Summer Palace. Later, he decided to make the Peterhof similar to Versailles and to construct more palace and fountains. Initially unpretentious palace, later, during Elizabeth, I reign the Grand Palace was reconstructed in baroque style with  Rastrelli as a chief architect.

The Bath House Palace is a unique museum which offers a fascinating insight into the everyday life of the Russian court.

Day 4 - St. Petersburg

Tour to Catherine’s Palace (incl. Amber Room) and park. In the beginning of XVIII Peter I first gave Tsarskoe Selo land to his favorite, Alexander Menshikov, but later took his gift back and granted it his wife, Ekaterina, the future Empress Catherine I. In 1724 the first palace was built. In the middle of XVIII century a splendid Catherine Palace   was built by architect Rastrelli, and numerous entertainment pavilions were erected in the park, including «Hall on the Island», Sliding Hill, Hermitage and Grotto. New baroque architecture was very popular in that time and new palace was a beautiful example of this architecture style. During the tour, you’ll see famous Amber Room which was lost during World War II and recently renewed.

Day 5 - St. Petersburg

Visit to the Yusupov Palace
Five generations of Russia's elite aristocratic and respected dynasty, the Yusupovs, owned the palace between 1830 and 1917. Rich interiors, golden decorations, admirable chandeliers. During the tour you’ll find out how Russian aristocrats lived like. Besides that ,the palace went down in Russian history as the place where the mysterious Grigory Rasputin, a Siberian peasant who became the spiritual mentor and friend of Nicholas II and the Royal Family in the early 20th century, was assassinated. Yung Felix Yusupov killed Rasputin in December of 1916.

Day 6 - St. Petersburg

Tour to St. Isaac’s Cathedral
St. Isaac's Cathedral is one the largest cathedrals in St. Petersburg and the third largest domed cathedral in the world. Ordered by Alexander I Emperor, the cathedral was constructed about 40 years, from 1818 to 1858. The interior of St. Isaac’s Cathedral strikes with its paintings.

Visit to the Spilt Blood Cathedral
On the place where Tsar Alexander II was assassinated, Alexander III, his son, decided to build the Cathedral in his memory. Hence it appears the name of the Spilt Blood Cathedral, or Church of Our Savior on the Blood as it’s also called.  The construction began in 1883 but it was finally completed only in 1907, during the reign of Nicholas II. Inside, the walls are covered with about 7500 square meters of wonderful mosaics, more than in any other church in the world
